How it works
From a quiet first phone call to your last cup of herbal tea before the ferry home, every stage of the Dangar Island Ayurvedic Retreat is deliberate. Here is the full process.
01
Pre-arrival · 30 min · Free
A free 30-minute virtual consultation with Dr. Nikhila. We assess your current state of health, vitality markers and goals — your sleep, digestion, stress load, hormonal patterns and any specific health concerns. This session is the foundation of your program. The free consultation is not a sales call. It is a clinical assessment.
02
Pre-arrival
After your consultation, Dr. Nikhila drafts your personalised retreat plan — the optimal number of healing days, the daily rhythm, the specific therapies in sequence, the dietary protocol and the herbal medicines. This blueprint is sent to you before you book, so you know exactly what you are arriving to.
03
Booking
Dangar Island is a car-free island on the Hawkesbury River, one hour from Sydney CBD. Drive north on the M1, exit at Cowan, continue to Brooklyn Wharf. The public ferry runs every 30 minutes. Accommodation is arranged separately — we recommend hand-picked Airbnb properties on Dangar Island, Little Wobby or Brooklyn.
04
Your retreat
Your retreat day begins with a gentle check-in over herbal tea. Therapies follow — selected from your blueprint and adjusted daily based on how your body is responding. Meals are prepared fresh, dosha-balanced and seasonal. Rest is built into the program, not squeezed around it. Half-Day (~4 hrs) or Full-Day (~8 hrs) formats available.
05
Post-departure
You depart with a written take-home protocol — food guidelines, daily rhythms, herbal medicines and self-care practices — designed to sustain the reset for weeks after your return. Follow-up check-ins with Dr. Nikhila are available for all retreat guests.
Half or full day
Ideal if you are in Sydney and want to experience Ayurvedic care before committing to a longer program. A half-day or full-day visit is the perfect entry point.
3-day reset NSW
A focused circuit-breaker. Most 3-day guests arrive wired and exhausted and leave sleeping, with their digestion reset and their mind quieter than it has been in months.
7-day deep reset
Our most-requested program. Long enough to move through all five stages of the Ayurvedic therapeutic arc: preparation, main therapies, integration, rejuvenation and take-home protocol.
14–21 day transformation
For guests recovering from illness, surgery, long COVID, hormonal disruption or chronic fatigue. Longer programs produce results that shorter retreats cannot.
A half-day or full-day visit is ideal if you are in Sydney and want to experience Ayurvedic care before committing to a longer program. A 3-day program is right for an acute stress reset. For a longstanding health pattern — hormonal, digestive, sleep-related or neurological — we recommend 7 days as a minimum. For complex or chronic patterns, 14 to 21 days. The free consultation will clarify this for your specific situation.
