Lead Practitioner
Ayurvedic Doctor · Marma Specialist · Pulse Diagnostician · Life Coach · Bansuri Artist

Dr. Nikhila Venugopal is a qualified Ayurvedic Doctor (BAMS), certified Marma Specialist and visionary wellness guide dedicated to leading modern individuals back to an authentic state of vibrant health and deep psychological peace. She is one of very few Marma Specialists practising at this depth in Australia.
Her clinical expertise is anchored in the traditional arts of Nadi Chikitsa (pulse diagnosis), classical Hatha Yoga and advanced meditation, with specialised medical training in Ayurveda and Manasa Chikitsa (mind-body psychology).
Recognising that modern stress manifests as both physical tightness and mental exhaustion, Nikhila has pioneered a multi-sensory approach to healing that weaves the precision of Ayurvedic therapies, the structural alignment of Marma energy work, professional life coaching and the therapeutic frequencies of live Bansuri sound into a single clinical framework.
Dangar Island Ayurvedic Retreat is a health retreat near Sydney, built on the principle that genuine wellness requires a clinical protocol, not a curated experience. Every guest receives a personalised program based on their pulse diagnosis. Every therapy is prescribed. Every meal is dosha-aligned. The island setting — car-free, quiet, one hour from Sydney — removes the environmental stressors that prevent healing in the city.
Every treatment is designed by Dr. Nikhila and delivered by her or a qualified Ayurvedic therapist — open to all clients, men and women.

Nadi Chikitsa is the classical Ayurvedic art of reading the pulse — a subtle diagnostic practice that maps the state of all three doshas, the seven tissue layers and the strength of the digestive fire from the radial pulse. Dr. Nikhila uses pulse diagnosis at the beginning of every consultation and retreat program to build a precise, individualised treatment plan.
Marma Chikitsa is a post-graduate specialisation within Ayurvedic medicine. Dr. Nikhila completed formal certification in Marma therapy and practises at a depth that few practitioners in Australia have achieved. Her Marma work addresses chronic pain, trauma residue, hormonal blockages and neurological dysregulation through precise point stimulation, warm medicated oil and breath.
Manasa Chikitsa is the Ayurvedic branch of mind-body medicine — the clinical framework for addressing psychological patterns through Ayurvedic medicine. Dr. Nikhila's training in Manasa Chikitsa means that the mental health dimensions of her work are clinically grounded, not intuitive. Stress, anxiety, burnout and emotional patterns are addressed with the same diagnostic rigour as physical symptoms.
All treatment plans are designed to complement your existing medical care. Dr. Nikhila reviews your current medications, supplements and GP findings during every initial consultation and will not recommend anything that conflicts with your medical treatment. For complex cases, she welcomes correspondence with your GP or specialist.
Pulse diagnosis to read your constitution and current imbalances before a single therapy begins.
Stimulating vital energy points to release deep-seated physical tension and clear mental blockages.
Mind-body psychology that meets stress, anxiety and emotional patterns clinically and gently.
Classical practices to regulate the nervous system and rebuild physical resilience.
Live sound and therapeutic frequencies woven into treatments to move emotion held in the body.
Custom lifestyle maps so the renewal continues long after you leave the island.
Guest experiences
“I arrived completely depleted after two years of burnout. By day three I was sleeping through the night for the first time in months. The pulse diagnosis on day one felt like Nikhila could read things I hadn't even said aloud.”

“The Marma session was unlike anything I've experienced — not forceful at all, but I left feeling like something genuinely shifted. My lower back pain of four years was noticeably better within two days.”

“Coming for postnatal care was the best decision I made after my second birth. The warm oil sessions and belly binding gave my body back to me. I wish I'd known about this after my first.”
